What Is Virtual ABA Therapy?

Virtual ABA therapy, also called telehealth ABA or online ABA therapy, delivers Applied Behaviour Analysis through a live video call. A clinician works with your child in real time or coaches you as you practise strategies together. Every online program at ABA Therapy Mississauga is supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and tracked with session data you can review. Eligible families can use Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding toward online sessions.

Is Virtual Autism Therapy in Mississauga Right for Your Child?

Online ABA works very well for some children and families, and less well for others. We'll always give you an honest recommendation.

In these cases, we may recommend in-home ABA therapy in Mississauga or a hybrid plan that mixes in-person and online sessions.

A free consultation, honest advice and no pressure

Online sessions are often a great fit for

  • School-age children and teens who can focus on a screen for short, active sessions.
  • Parents of toddlers who want to learn strategies through live coaching while they play with their child.
  • Families on a waitlist for in-person ABA who don't want to lose valuable months.
  • Busy households: shift workers, single parents and families juggling siblings, school runs and commutes along Highway 401 and 403.
  • Families already in therapy who want extra BCBA consultation or behaviour support between in-person sessions.

In-person support may work better when

  • Your child is very young and can't yet attend to a screen, and no caregiver is available to take part in sessions.
  • Your child has safety-related behaviours, such as running away or self-injury, that need hands-on support.
  • Your child's main goals are hands-on skills, like toileting or play with peers, that need a therapist physically present.

Four Ways Online ABA Therapy Can Work

Behaviour therapist providing online ABA sessions, parent coaching and virtual BCBA consultation to a Canadian family

Direct one-on-one online sessions

A trained therapist works live with your child on video, using games, visuals, songs and shared screens to teach communication, social and learning skills. Sessions are short and active, with lots of movement breaks and reinforcement your child enjoys.

Parent-mediated ABA (caregiver coaching)

Your child plays and learns while you lead the activity and a clinician coaches you in real time through your earpiece or speaker. This is often the best online option for toddlers and preschoolers, and it builds the skills you'll use every day. Our parent coaching program can be booked on its own or alongside therapy.

Virtual BCBA consultation and behaviour support

Struggling with meltdowns, bedtime, mealtimes or transitions? A BCBA meets with you online, reviews what's happening, and builds a practical behaviour plan with clear steps for the whole family.

Hybrid ABA: online plus in-person

Many families choosing online ABA therapy in Mississauga combine formats: in-person sessions at home or ABA support at daycare, plus online BCBA check-ins and parent coaching. One supervising BCBA oversees everything, so goals stay connected.
